    2023-2024 Legal Developments

    Does not formally criminalise same-sex sexual acts. ILGA World documented a pattern of state actors using the Law of Vagrants and Crooks (1954, as amended by Law No. 16, 1970) and 'public order' patrols to detain and harass LGBTQ individuals and human-rights defenders through 2023, including the August 2023 arrest of an LGBTQ activist.
